Dead Men Don’t Write Books
Elsom Eldridge, Jr., aka “The Obvious Expert,” spoke at Mark Hendricks’ Internet Success System Mastermind Conference this weekend.
During his presentation he related the story of how his first book came to be.
Elsom was working as a college professor and supplemented his income with side jobs. But he really wanted to be an educational consultant.
A mentor told Elsom that he should write the book he’d been planning to write for a while. The book would give Elsom instant credibility and act as his business card for the opportunities he intended to pursue.
The mentor asked him when he could get the book finished. Elsom said he would do it as soon as he had finished gathering all the data, statistics and research materials he needed. His mentor just shook his head and said, “Elsom, dead men don’t write books.”
Elsom, realized that his adviser was right. If he didn’t start on his book right away, it would never get done.
Long story short, Elsom did write his book and it did open doors for him in educational consulting. Elsom went on to write other books, including “The Obvious Expert” (which has been an Amazon.com #1 best seller).
Elsom has just launched a new project with Mark Hendricks called “Create And Publish Your Book Now.” If you think you’ve got a book somewhere inside you and want to write it before… well… while you still can, you should pay them a visit.
