Pick Your Pain
Business philosopher and leadership coach Jim Rohn has this to say about discipline:
We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret or disappointment.
What does that mean?
It means that to do anything meaningful with your life, you must have the discipline to set goals and work towards achieving them every day. Otherwise, you’ll get to the end of your days regretting your lack of action and disappointed in yourself that you didn’t achieve more.
Don’t let this happen to you. Learn to set goals and then do the things needed to reach them. For myself, I’ve found that Simpleology helps immensely with keeping me on track.
But here’s a little tip for you. If you commit to someone other than yourself to do what it takes to reach your goals, you have a much better chance of success. I meet with an associate 5 days a week to discuss my targets and make sure I’m staying on track. Just knowing that this meeting is scheduled helps me stay focused and concentrate my efforts on the most important tasks at hand.
Here’s another Jim Rohn quote:
You must take personal responsibility. You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can change yourself. That is something you have charge of.
If there’s something you need to change to reach your goals, do it today.
Don’t make excuses. Just do it!
