The Goal
So, what is it that we should be striving towards as we work to build our online businesses? Well your goal and everyone else’s must be decided personally. Everyone is different. But, in my case, I want to eventually be in a position to spend more time with my wife and kids, help other members of my family financially, and contribute time and money to my community.
In order to achieve my goal, I need to create a business that brings in a steady 5-figure income, month-after-month. But also it has to be a business that requires no more than 4 hours per day, 5 days a week to manage and that would not suffer if I decided to take several weeks of vacation at a time.
I can already hear some of you out there going “Yeah, right!” But, believe me, this is not a pipe-dream. This is an attainable goal. I’ve seen it done. And I fully expect that I will achieve my goal.
And that’s the key, isn’t it? To clearly define your goal…to see it, taste it, feel it so that it becomes real to you. This is starting to sound a lot like Napolean Hill’s, “Think And Grow Rich.” But, before you start accusing me of subscribing to some New Age, touchy-feely philosophy of wealth building, I need to let you in on something.
I don’t believe for one minute that “thinking real hard” will cause sub-atomic particles to align in my favor and manifest good things in my life. I’m not trying to dismiss, insult or condemn those that hold or promote such beliefs. It’s just not what I believe to be true.
To me, the true power of positive thinking and visualization is that it puts you in a frame of mind such that you are much more aware of the opportunities and possibilities that surround you…that surround us all…and so you are much more likely to take action on those opportunities as soon as they present themselves.
One of the things that’s been holding me back for a long time is the belief that my I could never come up with any good ideas, and certainly not enough good ideas to build a lasting business. But, since I’ve begun to immerse myself in the world of Internet marketing, I’ve started to see a whole new world of possibilities and have so many good ideas (at least I think they’re good) that the problem now is prioritizing them and creating a realistic plan to develop and implement them all.
So, what’s my master plan to achieve my financial and lifestyle goals in 2007? Well you’re looking at one part of it right now. Blogs have proven to be one of the best, fastest and easiest ways to start building an online presence. Expect to see frequent postings here.
Other pieces of the plan include building viral tools for marketers, and creating residual income streams. But, I’ll get in to that more later.
